My first conversation with Kimberly Hess, owner of new downtown Fargo flower shop Prairie Petals, tallied three tears. First, tears from Kimberly as she shared a story about her daughter receiving a piece of original artwork from her dad. Then from both of us as she explained to me her motivation for donating leftover Valentine’s Day inventory to kids at the Sanford Children’s Hospital.
She talked to me about how kids with serious illness know they need to take a lot. They take the people who love them through roller coaster journeys of treatments, setbacks and recoveries. They take a normal, uneventful life and turn it upside down. They take all the hope and prayers they can.
Kimberly gives her flowers to the kids so they can be the givers. Take a peek at WDAY’s story to see truly how much better it feels to give than to receive.
Today you can be anything you imagine!
